Now in its second year, the Al Downing Tampa Bay Jazz Association's Youth Jazz Jam is open to elementary through high school students across all counties, pairing young players with mentors Phil Magallenon and Dwayne Wayne, Director of Jazz Education, for two hours of real, hands-on music making. Piano, bass, and drums (rhythm instruments) are available on site, and students are welcome to bring their own. Students should come with foundational knowledge of their instrument — this is a working session, not an introduction. Doors open at 1 PM and the music runs until 3 PM.
